Overview

The BIOFIRE® Joint Infection (JI) Panel is the right test, the first time.

The BIOFIRE JI Panel is a multiplex PCR test that covers a comprehensive grouping of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, yeast, and antimicrobial resistance genes commonly associated with joint infections. It takes just one small sample of synovial fluid, and about an hour to get results on 39 clinically relevant targets.

The BIOFIRE JI Panel is faster than traditional methods, has improved diagnostic yield, and contributes to pathogen guided patient management.1, 2 This may aid in appropriate surgical decision making and reduce time to effective therapy through rapid pathogen identification.

The BIOFIRE JI Panel is designed to be used on BIOFIRE® FILMARRAY® TORCH System.

Detect More Targets in Less Time

Conventional testing for joint infections is complex, often requiring multiple patient samples, various send-out tests, and days of waiting for results. The BIOFIRE JI Panel is a rapid syndromic test that delivers comprehensive results in one easy-to-read report.

Using PCR technology, the BIOFIRE JI Panel offers a rapid sample-to-answer turnaround without sacrificing performance.

  • Simple: 2 minutes hands-on-time
  • Comprehensive: 39 Targets (15 gram positive, 14 gram negative, 2 yeast, and 8 antimicrobial resistance genes)
  • Fast: Turn around time of about 1 hour
  • Accurate: 91.7% sensitivity and 99.8% specificity
  • Small sample volume required: 0.2mL of Synovial fluid
