Faster Gram Straining results on blood culture positives decrease the mortality rate
Easy specimen processing from LBM® tubes
Improved Standardization by combining with WASP® Gram Smearing Module
PREVI® COLOR GRAM is an automated Gram stainer system that provides accurate, standardized results for all types of specimens.
Use of hazardous reagents in the Gram staining process is a safety concern, especially when it’s done manually. PREVI® COLOR GRAM has been designed with your safety in mind. And its smart cleaning and disposal features are convenient and environmental responsibility too.
Your lab is continually being asked to do more with less – so you need to make the most of your time and workflow. Manual Gram staining is a time-consuming, demanding procedure. PREVI® COLOR GRAM’s automated, intuitive workflow makes your life easier.
Get added flexibility and function by turning your PREVI® COLOR GRAM into a full-featured cytocentrifuge system with the ingenious optional PREVI™ ROTOR.

One of the time-consuming processes in routine microbiology is Gram staining.
In the past our laboratory worked with the classical manual Gram stain method with all the drawbacks you can imagine like labour intensive, preferable batch processing, messy and dirty etc.
Therefore, we wanted to improve this process in our laboratory by introducing PREVI® COLOR GRAM
Implementing PREVI® COLOR GRAM brought to our organization the improvements we expected like quality improvement, a clean process (closed system) for Gram staining, no more coloration of tables, floors.
PREVI® COLOR GRAM is a user-friendly system providing “ease-of-use” for every employee in our organization and single or batch coloration is no longer an issue.
The Gram stain quality using PREVI® COLOR GRAM is most appreciated by our staff and we have concluded that staining with PREVI Color is much cleaner and quicker compared to manual coloration. In fact, time to result is decreased.
Implementing PREVI® COLOR GRAM has brought our laboratory the improvement we expected.
Dr M. van Rijn - Medical Microbiologist and Mr Paul Rombouts – Laboratory Manager with their lab team, IKAZIA Hospital, Rotterdam, the Netherlands
For us PREVI® COLOR GRAM has improved the lab’s quality of staining and given us a more standardized technique. We gain in workflow as our work is less interrupted and performed quicker. The instrument is also available 24-hours a day.
PREVI® COLOR GRAM is particularly useful when performing stainings from our BACT/ALERT® bottles since we can clearly and easily differentiate Gram-positive from Gram-negative cells. We have clearly seen an improvement in comparison with our previous manual method. Now, we only very rarely have to resort to performing manual gram staining.

We first became interested in PREVI® COLOR GRAM because of the technology used by the instrument and then the demonstration in our lab convinced us to purchase the system.
Since we introduced the PREVI® COLOR GRAM we have faster Gram stains. The Gram staining has become cleaner, we no longer have any cross contamination problems, and we use less reagent volumes.
The quality of the staining with BACT/ALERT® samples means we have less crystalization problems and can see the bacteria more easily.

One of our Lab goals was to become more “LEAN” and the PREVI® COLOR GRAM helped our Microbiology Department to become more “Lean” and more standardized.
We have always done the manual gram stain which is messy, labor intensive, time consuming and lacks standardization throughout all shifts.
Since we installed the PREVI® COLOR GRAM, we have standardized the gram smears resulting in a clearer and cleaner slide. Along with the main microbiologists, other technologists from other shifts really love this instrument and feel more confident in resulting their gram smear. This was very important as they read “STAT” gram smears and positive Blood Culture smears during the night and it is critical that the smears are stained correctly to give accurate results to a non-Microbiology Technologist.
This instrument provides ease of use, it is user-friendly, and saves time especially with batches of slides to stain. It is a big Quality Improvement since it decreases turn around time to result, clearer smears, and standardized between shifts. This allowed us to become a more “LEAN” Microbiology department.
